Le foie est le site premier du métabolisme des médicaments et de l’élimination dans l’organisme, mais c’est un organe dont la modélisation est rendue difficile par la complexité de sa structure. On mettra au point un foie virtuel en s’appuyant sur des techniques mathématiques modernes telles que des fractales en combinaison avec des logiciels de modélisation de réservoir d’écoulement mis au point par Computer Modelling Group Inc. Le modèle servira à examiner les effets des maladies et des blessures sur la capacité du foie à synthétiser un médicament donné.
