Mitacs Globalink Intern Shouvik Mukherjee explores a novel approach to electromagnetic radiation that could shape research and innovation in the 21st century
Shouvik is researching Terahertz electromagnetic waves (T waves), which are unique in their ability to make visually opaque objects transparent. T-wave imaging provides remarkable opportunities for applications in non-destructive testing and imaging, medical diagnosis, health monitoring, and chemical and biological identification.
When asked why he chose to come to Canada, Shouvik answers excitedly, “Former Globalink students from my university told me about the opportunities that are available in my field of research in Canada. I am extremely grateful to take part in the Mitacs Globalink program, as this experience has provided me with international exposure, as well as prospects to explore new possibilities in electronics and communications.”
After spending just a week and a half in Montreal, Shouvik has fallen for Canada, so much so that he plans to return to Quebec to pursue his PhD at Université INRS.
