Mitacs announces six new university partners

Vancouver, BC — Mitacs is pleased to announce Université de Sherbrooke, University of Windsor, and University of Regina as new Full academic partners; and Lakehead University, Université Laval, and Université de Moncton as Associate academic partners. 

Through a formal role in governance, Full and Associate universities partners inform Mitacs’ priorities and program development, while promoting alignment with their institutions. These universities bring Mitacs membership to 40 institutions across the country. An additional 20 universities in Canada benefit from Mitacs programs as Honourary partners.

Université de Sherbrooke and University of Windsor were previously Associate members and have elevated their memberships this year.

  • Mitacs Accelerate connects companies with research-based universities through graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who apply their specialized expertise to business challenges. In 2014–2015, Mitacs supported almost 3,200 Accelerate internships.
  • Mitacs Globalink offers two-way mobility opportunities between Canada and Mitacs partner countries for both undergraduate and graduate students. In the summer of 2015, Mitacs Globalink matched 750 international senior undergraduates with Canadian faculty for 12-week research projects.
